My life lessons that I have learned in the past two weeks

  1. Even the worst things happen for a reason
  2. As long as I live at home Dad and Mom will treat me like I'm 16
  3. It is better to leave for work with enough time to actually enjoy the drive and not add extra stress to my life.

Night Music

All it takes for an incredible performance, is to have exceptional musicians. I could be in a hotel room crowded with people in folding chairs. Or I could be at showcase, people murmuring and shuffling in after the music has begun. Or it could be absolutely ideal, like it was last night: perfect lighting, intimate venue, and an audience of loyal fans. I have seen Girlyman in all of the above settings. Predictably, last night was the best. But it wasn't the external factors that made the show so ideal. I hold fast to my first statement. All I needed was to have Ty, Doris, and Nate up on the stage, smiling and singing in their perfectly intertwining harmonies. Bombs Away!!

I just had to share something out of the ordinary that just happened. I was sitting quietly in Top Pot Doughnuts , enjoying a latte and a raspberry glazed ring when I saw something out out of the corner of my eye...a small,dark object came flying (literally)from the direction of the ceiling and smacked into the window, next to an unsuspecting family of four. Poor bird, never did see where the little bugger went to. I think he was more traumatized than the sweet, young thing whose hair he just about ended up in. My favorite barista here put it best: "It's wild and crazy here at Top Pot!" Yet another reason why this is my favorite neighborhood hang out (not to mention the coffee:)

No Really, What Can I Do For You?

What is it about people who interact with someone whose job is to help them? What is it that makes it ok ,under these circumstances, to treat said persons like they are either stupid or subservient? I've never actually gotten my blood pressure tested, but after a day on the job, I certain it is quite high after "serving" my fellow citizens. I'm convinced that in ordinary situations at home or spending time with friends, these same people are probably fairly "normal." But when you put them in situations where a paid employee is available to help them, they turn into individuals with no manners and a couple of personalities. Regardless of the fact that some of these persons may indeed actually have a couple personalities. Recall the person who called wanting to cancel a certain order she had placed. A few days later, her other personality called back demanding to know why she had not received said order yet. I'm afraid this sort of thing happens a lot mor...
